I sit here today trying to wrap my mind around how many atrocities our current government is condoning. Pardoning criminals, shooting peaceful protestors, terrorizing our own citizens. I watched the horrible video that by now I’m sure everyone has seen. Alex Pretti, a 37 year old ICU nurse at the VA hospital was murdered in cold blood. We’ve seen it all at every angle, there is no way to spin this. Yes, he had a weapon as was his constitutional right in the state he was in. He had a permit for that weapon and was more than likely wearing it to keep himself safe. But here’s the thing…he knew that he had a weapon. Even when things escalated, he never once reached for the weapon. He was clearly holding a phone.

His parents released a heartbreaking statement that he told them he was going to film and document ICE. He was helping with traffic while a fight errupted between two female protestors and ICE agents. The agents pursued them across the street and started shoving the women down. Alex stood between the woman that was shoved and held up his hands. He had a phone in his right hand and an empty hand to let them know he wasn’t holding a weapon. ICE pepper sprayed them in the face. Note again, he never reached for his weapon. He then tried to help the woman up and then ICE ripped him off of the woman. Several ICE officers surrounded him, pinned him down, and disarmed him. Which is fine when detaining someone that is breaking the law. But here is where it goes horribly wrong. A SECOND after his gun was removed, an ICE agent unholstered his weapon and fired into Alex’s back. Then several more rounds were fired. Within the span of seven seconds, they ended an innocent man’s life. A U.S. citizen’s life. And to top it all off, they tried to (again) say that the federal agent’s life was in danger. Lie, after lie, after lie, after lie. I do not trust anything our government says, I will only trust what my eyes see, and my ears hear. In his last moments, he still asked if the woman was OK.

You can find the video online, but out of respect for him and his family, I think enough people have witnessed it. Rest in Peace, Alex. You didn’t deserve to die.

Justice is blind has taken on a new meaning these last few weeks. It has turned a blind eye to the absolutely heinous and disgusting behavior of our federal government. When does it end? This is our reality right now and it is terrifying. I didn’t vote for this. Why are we not coming together and helping one another? Keep filming, stay vigilant, and stay safe. Please protect one another!
