First of all, Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you had a great start to the year and things are looking up. I was thankful to have the days off that I did. Now, it’s back to the grind until April. How was all of your holidays? Mine was one-hundred percent relaxed. It’s been so long since I’ve been able to relax to such a degree. New year, new hope, and great food! I have been working on a short story that will be released soon. I’ve had so much fun writing this one, especially when it’s a blend of thriller and sci-fi. We’re nearing the tail-end of the Watchmen (my thriller novella) and I’m SO very ready! This has been a long time coming and I think I know exactly how it’s going to end. I hope that all of you have enjoyed the ride. If you haven’t checked it out, you can find the first chapter here:
Curious before you read? Here’s the synopsis:
Kate, a recent college graduate has just landed her dream job as a 3D artist for a cutting-edge game developer in Dallas. Eager to leave her small-town life in rural Pennsylvania behind, she packs her bags, ready to bring fantastic worlds to life on screen. But before she leaves, she stumbles upon a mysterious, haunting poem and illustration tucked away in one of her old college bags. The image depicts a city crumbling into ruin as dark hooded figures loom over the destruction. At the very bottom of the page was a neatly typed number: 14.
Settling into her new apartment, Kate is ready to embrace her new life. But soon after the nightmares begin. Each night, she finds herself trapped in vivid, harrowing visions where the image comes true. Dark figures watch as the blast incinerates buildings, flesh, and bone—yet in these visions Kate never dies. She feels every burn, every scream, every second of terror, only to awaken drenched in sweat. These creatures seem to revel in her torment, feeding off her fear and pain. Worse still, the number on the mysterious page begins to change and a countdown begins.
As days pass, Kate becomes increasingly paranoid, her grip on reality slipping. Is she cursed? Marked for torment by these dark entities? Or was it a warning—a chance to stop an impending apocalypse? Unable to distinguish nightmare from reality, Kate races against the clock to uncover the truth. But the line between reality and her visions blur as the countdown reaches its final hours. The city’s fate—and perhaps humanity’s—rests in her hands. Can she crack the code, or will her visions come true?
“The Watchmen” is a psychological horror-thriller exploring fear, fate, and the cost of survival when the mind becomes its own worst enemy.
My next release of this latest short story should be soon! I don’t want to jinx it and say it’s this week, just in case I need to go over anything! Anyways, take care everyone and have a great rest of your day!
