Today, I’ll kick off day three of Yuletide with a fun family story. Christmas time is a time of merriment! So let’s have fun.
Years ago while we were living with my grandparents, I would have been about four years old at the time─ one of my favorite things to do was go into their closet. I loved looking at my grandmother’s clothes and hats. She even had a mink coat! She also kept jewelry that I would look at. She sold jewelry as a living and would go to conventions. I’d love looking at them and all the new arrivals. Not thinking, (as four year old’s do) I opened the closet and to my delight, saw a kitchen playset. I immediately started playing with it, like ‘wee, this definitely isn’t for a certain holiday around the corner!’
My grandmother came in a few minutes later from the living room and I excitedly asked, “grandma, who is this for?” She sighed and said, “well, Merry Christmas I guess.” I was so upset that I ruined the surprise that I started crying. She walked over and hugged me but added, “just don’t spoil the rest, ok? No snooping!” I still laugh about that to this day. She later told me she didn’t even know I would go in there and thought I was just looking for presents. I was just curious 😀
What’s a fun story about you around the holidays?
